Kentucky Bankers Association Annual Conference Reflection

bank_compliance_issues_technology_annual_conferenceA few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to attend one of the best conferences I have ever participated; the KY Bankers Association annual conference. The event took place at the spectacular Greenbrier Resort in White Sulpher Springs, WV. There was an amazing group of people with a genuine interest to be there!

Below are some of my key take a-ways from the event:

  • The KBA has a great staff. Easy to work with, responsive
  • Compliance issues are bigger than ever and are costing local banks a lot of money
  • Technology plays a vital role in the day to day operations of a bank
  • Companies are still trying to sell AS400’s… technology from 1989
  • Banks deal with so many different vendors and waste a lot of time managing those vendors
  • Other vendors are behind NetGain Technologies’ managed service capabilities
  • There were a lot of great golfers
  • KBA members rely on the association for advice and help
  • Customers don’t visit the branches as often because of mobile banking
  • The FDIC hired IT people to perform audits and are becoming much more strict

Overall, there was a lot to bring back from the trip and I am excited to continue to attend these events each year. I believe I have made some friends for life.
