Silverdale Success Story

We’re pleased with NetGain Technologies and what they’re doing to support our systems. The managed services program has eliminated a lot of our daily difficulties

Providing comprehensive IT services that eliminate the need for in-house IT staff

On October 17, 1889, a Baptist church was founded in the Silverdale area of Chattanooga, Tenn. The founders used their own funds to purchase the land and then labored to construct the building, which was completed in the fall of 1890. Over the past 120 years, Silverdale Baptist Church has grown and evolved dramatically, with about 2,000 people attending worship services each weekend. The church’s current facilities were dedicated in 1997, and its operations are now supported by information technology. Just as the founding members constructed that original building, the Silverdale Baptist staff once took care of IT support issues in house. Today, however, the church relies on the managed service solutions and support of NetGain Technologies. “We have a server here in the main office and a backup server in case the primary server fails. We also have about 21 PCs,” said Ken McCoy, Executive Pastor, Silverdale Baptist Church. “One of our pastors has a background in technology, so he has served as the point person for any problems that have come up. However, he has other duties, so we use the NetGain Technologies managed service program for 98 percent of our day-to-day IT needs.”

Meeting Day-to-Day Needs

NetGain Technologies’ innovative managed service program is called Technology OneSource. Through this program, NetGain Technologies provides customers with remote monitoring, proactive maintenance and 24x7 help desk support to keep IT systems up and running. NetGain Technologies dispatches a technician if on-site support is needed. The Technology OneSource program is flexible and scalable, making it ideal for smaller organizations as well as companies with hundreds of end-users. “They monitor our systems for us, check them on a regular basis, and do a lot of preventive maintenance. This has achieved our goal of greatly decreasing the amount of time spent handling these issues in house,” McCoy said. “We had an agreement with another company that took care of our server and our major network issues, but we were having trouble keeping up with the day-to-day IT needs. The NetGain Technologies managed services program is the perfect solution.” Managed Services often make good sense for organizations that lack the skills and resources to handle technology issues in house. However, Silverdale Baptist Church found that selecting the right technology partner is critical. “We had hired a technician to help us on a contract basis, but that wasn’t meeting our needs. It was just unrealistic to expect somebody working on a contract basis to always be there when we needed him,” said McCoy. “We’re pleased with NetGain Technologies and what they’re doing to support our systems. The managed services program has eliminated a lot of our daily difficulties.”

Comprehensive, Cost-Effective Solution

Headquartered in Lexington, Ky., NetGain Technologies is a 25-year-old firm that is relatively new to the Chattanooga area. The company opened its Chattanooga office in September 2009, and hired a number of talented individuals who were former employees of a technology firm that had recently closed its doors. “We had been working with that organization, and when it closed we had the option of looking for another technology provider or going with NetGain Technologies,” said McCoy. “We decided to select NetGain Technologies because they had hired several of the former staff of the company that had closed. They were familiar with our systems, which was a real plus. But in addition to that, NetGain Technologies is able to provide more services than the other firm. That proved to be a real advantage for us.” That resonates with NetGain Technologies’ business focus. Smaller organizations in cities such as Chattanooga are looking for a partner with the depth of expertise and breadth of resources to help maximize the value of their technology investments. While many technology providers of this caliber concentrate on major cities and larger organizations, NetGain Technologies is committed to providing cost-effective solutions for organizations that lack the IT skill sets they need. “Hiring someone on a contract basis didn’t work out for us, yet we don’t have sufficient needs to hire somebody full time,” McCoy said. “NetGain Technologies provides the full range of services we need and it’s much more cost-effective than maintaining those skills in house.”
